| As the imports that started the suri revolution fade into the depths of the bloodline charts we start to see the results of selective breedings. It has been over 10 years since the first recognized suri imports started to define a specific suri type. A short 10+ years of breeding for suri fiber coat has yielded some stunning results as witnessed in llama shows around the country. Breeders in South America are limited to breeding possibilities due to geographic isolation and transportation issues. This generally allows the reproduction to be isolated within a region. Bold Envy is an example of the ability in the U.S. to meld top selected breeding pairs to achieve the breeders goal. This is the polar opposite of South America where we have no geographic or travel restrictions to make the best coupling possible. Bold Envy is a borderless breeding result that made use of our ability to assemble the best of the Chilean, Bolivian, Peruvian, and Foundation North American Bloodstock, and add 6 levels of suri genotype just on the ILR registration. He goes back to Peruvian Maximo on the dam side 5 generations deep insuring with each generation a higher percentage of suri reproduction. The sire, San Paolo, is a relatively recent Chilean suri influence from the natural selection breeding operation of the McRoberts Game Farm. Bold Envy has the history behind him to indicate a bright future. He should mature with a larger frame, as his dam and sire both are above average in the size department. His fiber is a fine suri type and he has just enough color to be noticed in the show ring. This young prospect has a very credible foundation to become a valuable asset in a breeding or showing situation. |
